Concussions/mild traumatic brain injuries incurred by school board staff are a growing concern to our member school boards. The statistics below were gathered from the 58 district school boards that belonged to the SBCI WSIB/H&S services in 2013-14. Consequently, we have been working with member school boards to prepare a head injury guide. It is a guide intended for the school boards as background information for general use. For individual claims management, members are encouraged to continue to contact your SBCI Claims Manager for assistance.
This implementation guide takes the strategies found in the Ball Strike Toolkit, and provides tips and tricks on how to actually implement them in a school setting.
Special thanks to Keith Wainwright, Principal, Durham District School Board for his invaluable insight in this matter.
